This document shows you how to Change the Hostname in an Active Directory server.

!! IMPORTANT !!

You have to complete this Update HTTPS Certificate with Globaleaks before doing this tutorial!

How to:

1, Follow this tutorial: Update HTTPS Certificate with Globaleaks When you are done, continue on step 2.

2, Open the server management interface and navigate to the section where you can update the server name. Enter the new hostname and click Save.
3, Then Open DNS on the Active Directory server. Go to ToolsDNS in the server management console.
4, Then look for the domain you need to change. Double-check the existing IP address for the host you are updating.
5, Copy this IP address to use in the next step.
6, Add a new host entry. Navigate to the folder for your domain (e.g., Company.lan).
7, Right-click in the empty space and select New Host (A or AAAA)…
8, Enter the new hostname and the copied IP address.
9, Click Add Host to complete the process.
10, Verify the change. Ensure the new hostname is listed with the correct IP address in the DNS.
11, Confirm that any network services referencing the hostname are functioning correctly.
